Namco Taiko Blog 2 (June 9 2016): Dive into the Gaust: White ver. June 16 Adds

Oh hey Daifuku's back. Did you left something at the Namco Taiko Blog room? No, you came for another blog post? Okay let's hear it.

New Song: June 16
 Diver NEW!
「トレジャーガウスト ガウストダイバー」より Treasure Gaust: Gaust Diver

Well that was a surprise addition. And if you did not know the series of Bandai toys or the double NDS games of red- and blue-color branding from 9 years ago... well I have nothing sassy to tell you because it is rather obscure. Here's an official English site about the series if you really want to know more.

Taiko Team composer-familiar Kawagen Collagen was then part of Gaust Diver's development. Back then the Namco Sound Team was pushing out frequent vocal hits for series like Taiko no Tatsujin, The Idolm@ster and Katamari Damacy, and Kawagen was getting envious of the prolific feat. As Gaust Diver approached completion and it was time to compose the ending theme, without any instructions from planning Kawagen decided to make it a vocal composition too.

The composition and lyrics was done in 2-3 days, and got a female clerk employee to provide vocals for the song. And without the development team knowing much anything about it, it was sent to them at just a notice of "Ending song's done!". The sensation gave the already-exhausted team a shot of vitality.

This time, in for the Taiko no Tatsujin inclusion, the song has its tempo, lyrics and arrangement retouched, and even got the same female back for the vocals, even though she has since resigned from Bandai Namco.

Fun fact: after Crimson Red and Deep Blue, the Gaust Diver games were slated to have White and Black sequels, but never came to realization. The second chorus has lines mentioning the two colors to call back to this, just like the first chorus has "red" and "blue" in it.

No matter if you never knew the game because it was so obscure, or that if you played and/or liked the franchise, have a go at it on White ver. next Thursday! Or, you know, it doesn't matter if you are expected to be busy with 3DS3. You do you, Donders.
